About

The University of Richmond Writing Center offers writing assistance and support to all students on campus.

Our services include:

  • Individual writing consultations in any subject
  • Assistance with planning, revising, documenting papers
  • In-class orientations and workshops: Faculty may request a class visit by a Consultant to talk about how the Center operates, offer a short workshop on an academic writing topic, or stage a "mock tutorial" with a second Writing Consultant. Request an orientation..
  • Assistance for second-language students (Contact Dr. Joe Essid about working with Dr. Leslie Bohon, a specialist in English as a second language; you can also find out more by contacting Dr. Bohon.
  • Assistance for neurodiverse writers. Some Consultants have additional training with Dr. Cort Schneider, Director of Disability Services.

Students can meet with writing consultants in person or through Zoom during their scheduled shifts.

Faculty can have their classes participate in the Writing Across the Curriuclum program, and a student writing consultant will be assigned to work with class participants on their writing projects.

Interested students can train to become writing consultants.

The Center also offers events, online writing tools, and online writing consultations for students in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies.
